01

Choose the moment

Choose one repeated moment that feels harder than it needs to: leaving home, making coffee, finding a form. Start there. A room can look beautiful and still make you search for your keys. The useful question is what you need to do in the space. Keep the answer small enough to try today.

This corner should help me: __.

02

One surface

Pick a surface you can finish in one sitting. Put unrelated things in one temporary basket. Wipe the surface, then return what belongs to the moment you chose. Do not open every drawer. Before leaving, give the basket a destination or a specific time to revisit it. One completed surface is a real improvement.

Three things that belong here: __ / __ / __.

03

Visible, without the pile

If closed boxes make things disappear from your attention, try an open tray or a shallow basket. Group by what you do together. Coffee supplies can live together even when the objects are different shapes. Leave room to put things back without rearranging everything. A useful system should be easy on a tired afternoon.

The thing I keep losing: __. Its visible home: __.

04

Paper needs a verb

For each paper you keep out, name its next action: sign, pay, call, return, or file. Add a date only when there is a real deadline. Keep the original somewhere you can find it again. A stack labeled important still asks you to make the same decision tomorrow. A short action note gets you closer to finishing.

Paper: __. Next action: __. Deadline: __. Original location: __.

05

Ask for a bounded kind of help

You can need help with the middle. Finding three services, comparing quotes, or arranging a time are separate jobs. Name the one you want someone to handle. Agree what they may contact or book on your behalf. A written scope makes help easier to receive and easier to pay for.

I need help with __. The decision I keep for myself is __.

06

Keep what works

Try the arrangement during ordinary life. If the keys still land elsewhere, move their home closer to where your hand naturally goes. If a basket stays full, make the next step smaller. You are allowed to change the system. Your room should support the life you have, including the days when very little gets done.

Keep: __. Move: __. Stop trying to make this work: __.
